Pray
Putting prayer at the top of a list of ways to reach an online generation seems almost cliché. But the power of persistent prayer is hardly cliché. The movement among the Bhojpuri in North India didn’t take off until there were people in every time zone praying for their salvation. While there is nothing magical about people in every time zone praying for a movement, it is a testament to the shear number of people praying for a single goal. Attempt after attempt didn’t result in a church plant in Varanasi until a young man committed muster prayer for that city everyday for four years. The only way for a movement to begin among the Online Generation is with passionate persistent prayer of thousands of Christians worldwide.
Here is how you can pray:
Go to http://www.godrev.com/joy-in-heaven. This web page displays the real-time location of someone who came to know Christ through any of the websites run by GodRev.com. These websites reach out to people who type, “Who is God?” into the Google search engine. At the time of writing this document, over 6,300,000 people had visited the site since startup and over 634,000 people had made decisions to follow Christ. On average, two people per minute give their lives to Christ.
1. Pray for people receiving Christ on the internet. Pray that they have access to God’s Word in their language. Pray that the Holy Spirit would guide them as they learn about Christ through His Word.
2. Pray that they would be able to share Christ with their family and community.
3. Pray that the cares of the world would not choke their enthusiasm and love for Christ.
4. Pray that they become more obedient to Christ as they read his word.
5. Pray John 17 for them.
We also need people to pray for emerging persons of peace. The person of peace is someone who is spiritually searching, who receives the Gospel with joy, and who takes the Gospel back to their community. Matthew 10 and Luke 9 and 10 talk about the person of peace. Cornelius (Acts 10) is an example of a person of peace. Use these passages to guide your prayers.
1. Pray that God would move in the hearts of people online and prepare them to receive His Gospel.
2. Pray that Christians would recognize persons of peace as they interact with different online communities.
3. Pray that the person of peace would allow the Christian to engage them and their community in discover Bible study.
4. Pray that the person of peace would accept Christ.
5. Pray that their community would receive Christ.
6. Pray that they would become obedient to God’s Word. Finally, pray for emerging leaders. We believe the most effective workers come out of the harvest. Pray Matthew 9:35-38 for The Online Generation. Thank you for your willingness to pray for the Online Generation.
Email Paul Watson through the Contact page on this website to let us know you prayed. We need to know that people out there care about us and the Online Generation.
