Paul, this article is one of the best of your blog. I have posted a link to it on my own blog. God bless.

Group dynamics and starting the right way are essential in both discipleship and multiplication. This is one of the best articles with respect to the group process.

David Watson says in one of his videos that you never officially start the Discovery Bible Study. What you do, is you suggest to get together once and do the first passage in the series. After that you ask them if they would like to try one more time. And so on. So, you do not announce it like a course, but like a one time activity which could be repeated, if desired.

He also says that it is very crucial not to cancel first six meetings. After six meetings people are already involved and will desire to continue.

My thought .... You've got the right idea - they don't need to be saved to do the Discovery Bible study series. Get them going. If they don't respond, then you've got the wrong "people of peace. "(Luke 10) Keep praying for indigenous harvesters in the field.

BTW I'm totally new to this. Better wait for Paul's confirmation! :)

David,

I attended your seminar in Senegal almost 3 years ago. I am committed to seeking the man of peace and working with him and his family. I have targeted one or two men that I see as potential men of peace. My approach has been to try to get them saved before I work with them and their families in a discovery Bible study series. This does not seem to be working. Should I just ask them at this time if they would like to go through a discovery Bible study series and see if they are open to that? They are Muslims. If they say "No" to the series, what should be my response?

Hi Jerald,

If you want to implement these groups within your church, you can start with doing the things in this post. Of course, if you want to catalyze movements, this post just describes one part of a system that needs to be in place for movements to happen. That is what this series of posts is about. You can find more information about the system at <a href="http://www.cpmtr.org" target="_blank">http://www.cpmtr.org and <a href="http://www.davidlwatson.com" target="_blank">http://www.davidlwatson.com and in the series of posts I link to at the bottom of this post.

If you don't want to implement Discovery Groups as part of a system to catalyze movements, that is ok. Here is the link to the list of passages we use to guide lost people to Christ - <a href="http://www.davidlwatson.org/2009/07/11/from-creat..." target="_blank">http://www.davidlwatson.org/2009/07/11/from-creat... (I included this link in this post and it is what I referred to in my last comment.)

If you want more than that, join my Skype class. We will talk in detail about what needs to be in place to catalyze movements and we will practice having a Discovery Bible Study. The link for that is here: <a href="http://www.reachingtheonlinegeneration.com/2010/0..." target="_blank">http://www.reachingtheonlinegeneration.com/2010/0...

Blessings,

So, to start to use this concept of "Discovery Bible Studies" you will begin with ?what? You said your resources are within this post but should I just go to the archives in your site and read every post? Would that be a beginning? Or are there other things to start with?
I really like what you are doing and would like more information about how it works and how it might work in my community and church.
