What is in My Google Reader?

by Paul on January 13, 2009

People bug me for the contents of my Google Reader all the time.  I’ve never made a list, because it changes all the time.  But, the beginning of the year I went through and cleared out my Google Reader.  I had two criteria for blogs I kept, or added, to my reader this year:

  • I didn’t want to read anything by anyone who sounded too much like someone else.  There is one Seth Godin, I don’t want to read anyone merely remixing his stuff without adding to the conversation.
  • I didn’t want read anything that didn’t help me see things from a different perspective or didn’t introduce me to new concepts and ideas.

Since I recently updated everything, I thought this would be a good time to share my list with you.

I do want to make one important point:  Not everyone I read is a Christian.  (In fact, to my knowledge, most aren’t.) They are all powerfully competent and passionate about their fields.  Some express their passion using language and imagry some might find offensive.  I don’t necessarily agree with their worldview, but that doesn’t mean I can’t learn from them.  Please do not come whining to me if you read something that doesn’t match your worldview.  I’ve warned you.  Additionally, I respect these folks and know a handful of them.  Please do not try to ‘evangelize’ them or their readers on their blog.  Please do not ‘flame’ them for their beliefs and opinions and how they choose to express them.  If you do, and I find out, it will take everything in my being to keep me from punching you out or figuring out some way to delete your hard drive.  I’m that serious.  Don’t embarrass me.

That being said, here they are in absolutely no particular order:

I reserve the right to change these at any time.  I hope this helps guide your thinking about the Online Generation.

P.S.  If you aren’t on this list, it could be because I access your blog when I see your twitter announcement for a new post.  Or I have it bookmarked and read it once a week.
